I earned a bachelors degree and a teachers certification but after a couple years, I saw that going boating and teaching boating was so much more FUN than life teaching elementary school. I earned a masters degree in education while working as a full time boating skills instructor and program administrator. With the heart of a teacher and the spirit of the water, I love life and haven't looked back. I'm a maritime professional with more than 15 years of professional experience with more than double that including recreational time on the water.
As a long time St Petersburg resident I know our west coast Florida waterways, tides, weather, as well as all the best boat-only beaches, waterfront bars, shelling spots, and where to find the perfect sunset. I'm skilled at providing family-friendly or adult adventures, allow me to deliver exactly what you and your party desires for an absolutely prefect boat day.
I'm a self proclaimed boat geek, a certified US Coast Guard Master (and a captain too), a US Powerboating Instructor and Instructor Trainer, as well as a US Department of the Interior Motorboat Operator Certification Course Instructor. I am able to help you develop your boating skills, share my local knowledge or provide you a carefree boat day.

I was born in Des Moines but like to say I'm from Lake Okoboji, Iowa, a little slice of paradise in the middle of nowhere. I grew up spending weekends and summers at my grandparents lake house in "Boji" which I quickly learned to call home. My water sports abilities began with my dad pulling us kids behind a vintage inboard Chris Craft..

I grew up spending weekends and summers at my grandparents lake house in "Boji" which I quickly learned to call home. My water sports abilities began with my dad pulling us kids behind a vintage inboard Chris Craft.. if it decided to start up that day.
By high school I began working at the local gas dock where many regulars began asking if I could clean up their boat at the end of each weekend for some extra cash. I said yes way too often which led me to quitting my long gas dock days and starting my own detailing company at the age of 16. Four short summers went by and I had accumulated over 300 clients and an incredible amount of connections.
My days off consisted of getting up before sunrise to wake surf 'til sunset with friends on Tige's, Nautiques, and Malibu Wakesetters. As my love for the water grew, I knew I couldn't stay in Iowa if I wanted to be around water more than 3 months out of the year. I had heard of a small school in St. Pete, Florida called Eckerd College and decided to move over 1,000 miles away from friends and family to continue my love for water sports and the boating world.
As a student at Eckerd, I immediately was drawn to their waterfront program where they had a wake boat available to students to ride for free. I sure took advantage of that on the daily. I believe one of my first days of stepping on campus I had applied to be one of the students drivers for the wake boat; they normally don't hire freshman for such an advanced position but I didn't take no for an answer.
Flash forward 4 years, I had accumulated enough sea time to pursue an official Captains License. I had earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Management and Environmental Studies and remained active at the school after graduating in 2020, serving as the Coordinator of Water Sports, Recreation, and Education. While working there, I completed my Captain's courses of the prestigious ‘Sea School'. I am certified in First Aid & CPR, hold a US Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC), and am now very excited to say am an official United States Coast Guard Licensed Captain.
I love sharing my passion for the water with others and am excited to show both locals and tourists how truly incredible Florida's little slice of heaven is!
